A fellow classic movies blogger over at Film Flare passed along this "award" that requires that I answer these set questions about my movie-enjoying experience. So here goes!



1.) Most embarrassing moment at a movie theatre:
To be honest, I don't think I have one. I don't know how embarrassing watching movies could actually be. I mean, you walk in, sit down, eat popcorn, and watch a movie in the dark with several people you don't know. What could happen?



2.) Most cherished memory of a cinematic experience:

I really had a good time at THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965) sing-along at a local retro/vintage movie theatre. I wrote an article about it a long time ago, but the evil internet people deleted it! :[

3.) Favorite book to film adaptation:

Definitely LITTLE WOMEN (1933) with Katharine Hepburn. I like it much more than the later Margaret O'Brien version. Jo is such a firecracker of a character, and I love George Cukor's vision for that film, even if it might be considered slightly sentimental by today's standard.

4.) An actor/actress whose wardrobe you'd steel:

NOT Katharine Hepburn. She wore pretty tatty clothes, to be honest. I think I'll go with the other Hepburn on this one. Classy chic, very clean, fine lines, flattering but not flashy.

5.) A film character that has changed you:

Cary Grant and Constance Bennett's characters in TOPPER (1937) always make me feel really flippant and optimistic - does that count? Of course, Katharine Hepburn the actress has changed me (my politics, world view, etc.) but that doesn't always have to do with her film roles, though often it does.

6.) A film that scares/scared the heck out of you:

That's easy: JURASSIC PARK (1993). I could (can?) never get through that movie. When the t-rex is chasing them and they's hiding form it in the kitchen, I completely flake out and have to run under my covers. What can I say - I'm a sissy. I also don't like zombie movies because they give me bad dreams. I'd much rather have a good straight-up murder mystery.

7.) A scene from a film that popped into your mind...just now!

Umm, umm THE BIRDS (1963)! When they're running from the birds and they're flying everywhere and she's like "Ahhhhh!" and runs into the phone booth!

8.) Is there a review/article that has been lying around in your drafts for a while?

Yes indeed. My post about DESK SET (1957) has been sitting in there for ages. I'm trying to adapt my 80-page thesis about that movie into a blog post, and it isn't easy! I just don't want to cut anything!

9.) An unreleased film you're looking forward to seeing:

I'm looking forward to THE ODD LIFE OF TIMOTHY GREEN.

10.) A little-known actor/actress that you love:

She's not little-known at all, but a character actress I really like is Mary Wickes.

11.) Who's life would you like to see depicted in film?

Katharine Hepburn - but only if I can supervise.

MY ANSWERS FOR MACGUFFIN MOVIES:
Who is your favorite character actor and your favorite movie of his/hers? I love Mary Wickes in just about all her movies, my favorite being WHITE CHRISTMAS because it's about Christmas.
I there is one locale from a movie that you would visit or live permanently, where would it be? I'd love to visit the Venice of 1955 SUMMERTIME.
What is your least favorite movie genre and your movie that falls in that category? I dislike gory horror movies, so I don't really know I movie that is in that category because I never watch them.
Is there any movie star whose offscreen life you would want to lead? That's easy. Take a guess.
Which actor/actress' life do you find most tragic? Judy Garland, but I don't pity her because I really do see her as a very strong individual.
What is your favorite biopic/docudrama? I like THE GREAT ZIEGFELD. Doe BONNIE AND CLYDE count as a biopic?
What fashion seen in classic movies do you wish would resurface? Hats. I wish women could still wear hats. And men, too.
Have you ever met a celebrity, and if not, who would you like to bump into? I met Simon Callows at a performance of Romeo and Juliet a few years ago and he was charming. I would like to meet Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Julie Andrews, Alan Rickman, Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson, Phyllida Law, and Stephen Fry.
What movie do you love but would like to recast? I'd like to recast JOAN OF ARC with Katharine Hepburn. That would have been a n amazing film. Actually, there are a lot of movies that would have been better with her in them.
Are there any actors whose films you avoid? Why? Yeah - bad actors. Not a huge fan of Meryl Streep but you always HAVE to see her movies.
If you could live your life inside a movie, which genre would it be? Classic Hollywood romantic comedy, of course!

Who is your favorite Muppet (if you don't have one you don't have a soul)? Can I pick two? Kermit and Animal.
What are the next five films in your Netflix queue? I only get instant. :(

Favorite ride at Disney? Teacups? I haven't been...
Have you ever watched an episode of Gossip Girl or Glee? Yes - the girls in my house at college used to follow Glee.
Name one embarrassing movie in your collection? PETE'S DRAGON, but I'm not ashamed!
STAR TREK or STAR WARS? STAR WARS 100%!
DVD or BLU Ray? DVD - I don't have a Blu ray player.
Coke or Pepsi? Coke. I actually collect Coca-Cola stuff.
What's a movie name you'd love to use as an alias? Jamie Jamieson from WITHOUT LOVE.
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Probably a lot.
